Dad, I forgive you.

I’ve learned that it’s easier to be mad at someone than to forgive them or to understand them. I’ve learned that it is easier to point the blame instead of looking within and understanding myself. I’ve learned that it’s easier to ignore, avoid, and bury my feelings than to be honest with myself. I’ve learned that it’s easier to hold on to the anger because I don’t know how to start over, and it has always been easier to be mad than to take a chance to love someone again who has hurt me.

However, I also learned that it’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to not know what to do or how to do it, but I had to remind myself that as long as I was breathing that I deserved a relationship with my father. Today, I want you to know that you also deserve to build new memories  so it’s okay to let go of the bitterness, resentment, and anger. You  deserve to give love and be loved by your father. You deserve to have two parents, and for them both to have a positive impact on your development moving forward. You deserve to be happy with your father's love and to be joyful about that love. Most importantly, YOU-DESERVE-TO-BE-AT-PEACE.

Say it with me, “I deserve to be at peace.”

Forgive him for you.

This process is for you, and you only.

Reclaim your peace.
